HOW IT WORKS
Tap the button in time with any beat — a song, a metronome, a drum loop.
Each tap records a timestamp with sub-millisecond precision.
The tool measures the gap between your last 8 taps and converts the
average interval to BPM using 60,000 ÷ avg_ms.
After 3 seconds without a tap, the reading locks in and
the beat visualizer starts flashing at the detected tempo so you can
verify it against the source.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What does BPM mean?
BPM stands for Beats Per Minute — the universal unit for measuring musical tempo. 120 BPM means 120 beats per minute, or 2 beats every second. Most pop songs sit between 100–130 BPM.
Q: How many taps do I need for an accurate result?
At least 4 taps, ideally 8 or more. The tool uses your last 8 intervals to smooth out slight timing inconsistencies. Fewer taps = wider margin of error.
Q: Can I use the keyboard?
Yes — press the Spacebar to tap on desktop. Many people find keyboard tapping more precise than clicking a button.
Q: Why does my BPM reading keep changing?
The average updates after every tap, so small timing variations shift it slightly. This is normal. After 8+ taps the reading stabilizes. The "CONFIRMED" label appears when the tool has enough data to be confident.
Q: Does this work on mobile?
Yes. The TAP button uses touch events with double-tap zoom disabled for accurate single-tap detection. Works on iOS and Android browsers.
