How does the size limit work?

We measure the encoded file in bytes and adjust quality to fit your limit. If allowed, we reduce dimensions when quality alone is not enough. A download is only offered when the file is at or below the limit.

Will my image lose quality?

JPG and WebP compression can remove detail. Smaller limits may also need smaller dimensions. Compare the result before using it. If keeping dimensions matters, turn off dimension reduction or choose a larger limit.

Is my image uploaded or saved?

No. Image processing happens on your device. Only your target size, format, and resize preference are remembered in this browser. Downloaded files are saved only when you choose to download them.

What if my image is already small enough?

If its format matches your chosen output and it fits the limit, we offer the unchanged original. Otherwise we convert it to your chosen format. Unchanged originals retain their existing metadata.

Can I preserve a transparent background?

Choose WebP to keep transparency. JPG does not support transparency and uses a white background. PNG is accepted as input, but PNG output is not available.
